Andy is an improviser, director, and theatre maker born and raised in amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton).

He began performing improv in grade ten at Archbishop MacDonald high school in the lunchtime “MacNasty”, an improvised soap opera. Since then he has performed across Turtle Island (North America) including being a company member with Regina’s Hitchhikers Improv from 2018-2020. He originally joined Rapid Fire in 2008, then again in 2010 (to 2015), and then again in 2020. Andy loves joining Rapid Fire Theatre! A few favourite improv memories are performing with the U of A Improv Group at the inaugural UBC Impulse Festival, guest performing at Portland’s Curious Comedy Theatre, and performing at Toronto’s Bad Dog Theatre’s Test Drive Festival. Andy performs in the weekly Theatresports, Maestro and several long form improv formats.

Improv is central to how Andy creates theatre and lives his life from being a dad to his son Elton to his ongoing freelance theatre career.

He is artistic director of Thou Art Here Theatre, a non-profit artist driven collective committed to creating immersive theatre experiences. Andy has an MFA in Directing & Creation from York University, BA in Drama from the University of Alberta, is graduate of the Banff/Citadel Professional Theatre Program, and of the Rozsa Foundation Arts Management Program. Previously he was festival director of Common Ground Arts’ Found Festival, Sandbox Series Coordinator/Theatre School Director at Globe Theatre, and currently is Programming Coordinator with Theatre Alberta.

He has lived and worked across the country and is proud to be an Edmonton-based artist.
