Derrick joined the cast of Rapid Fire Theatre in 2016, but his love for improv begun when he enrolled in his first RFT workshop in 2012. Since then, he has also had the wonderful experience of workshopping with Grindstone Theatre, the Foote Theatre and performing in Edmonton’s 2015 Fringe Festival. In the summer of 2014, he also completed a series of The Second City’s improv and sketch writing intensives in Chicago, Illinois. Upon his return from Chicago, Derrick co-founded Blackout, a improv-based sketch comedy group. Currently, he is the Artistic Director for Grindstone Theatre’s Blackout and a cast member of Sorry, Not Sorry’s Thunderprov!, a longform improv troupe. When he isn’t on stage, Derrick can be found at Lift Interactive working as a web designer, and a semi-professional foosball player.
