Meg Prusko

After accidentally joining the improv team in their first year of high school, Meg has been making stuff up almost constantly.

From there, they participated in all of the high school tournaments and loved every moment. In April of 2017, they travelled with their team to Ottawa to represent Alberta in the Canadian Improv Games. Now that they’re out of high school, they are pursuing a Bachelor of Education at the University of Alberta. They’ll never forget the first show they saw at Rapid Fire Theatre because they were so amazed that someone could mime peeling a banana so well. They are overjoyed to spend time on stage learning how to mime peeling bananas, among other things. Megan encourages everyone to ask about their dog.

During Sphinxes I spelled “grilled cheese” wrong in a scene. Later on when I spelled it correctly, the audience went hogwild. I really liked being celebrated for the bare minimum!

HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH RAPID FIRE?

I did improv all throughout high school and performed in the Wildfire Festival and NAIL. I was asked to audition at the end of grade 12, and I’ve been stinkin’ up the joint ever since.

WHAT ARE THE KEYS TO A SUCCESSFUL IMPROV SCENE?

Knowing your audience is the key. After that I think you can do whatever your heart desires and the scene will be successful.

WHAT ARE SOME TIPS YOU CAN OFFER AUDIENCE MEMBERS ABOUT GIVING SUGGESTIONS TO IMPROVISERS?

We’ll do whatever you tell us but if you ask for the splash zone you’re gonna get wet!!!! So, I guess just don’t be a hack and you won’t see a bad scene.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT SHORT FORM VS. LONG FORM AND VICE VERSA?

Short form is fun to experiment with and make bold offers within. Long form allows you to explore whatever you’re doing and flex your storytelling skills. But it’s like choosing between pets.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR IMPROV STYLE?

>:-)

WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT ON STAGE?

During Sphinxes I spelled “grilled cheese” wrong in a scene. Later on when I spelled it correctly, the audience went hogwild. I really liked being celebrated for the bare minimum!

WHAT DO YOU DO OUTSIDE OF RFT?

I’m in school to be an elementary school teacher! I also spend a lot of time with my horrible little dog, Cooper. In general I’m just a little devil.

HOW DOES IMPROV COME IN HANDY IN YOUR DAY-TO-DAY LIFE?

I have absolutely no foresight and absolutely no impulse control. You do the math.
