Hailing from Edmonton, Jamie Cavanagh is a professional improviser and actor with over two decades of experience. For 10 years, Jamie was a key performer with Rapid Fire Theatre and Die-Nasty: The Live Improvised Soap Opera, where he developed his craft and became a fixture in Edmonton’s vibrant improv scene. He is also a founding member of The Late Night Cabaret at the Edmonton Fringe Festival, a wildly popular show that still runs annually.
Since moving to Toronto in 2014, Jamie has made his mark on the city’s comedy and theatre communities, performing regularly at Comedy Bar, Bad Dog Theatre, SoCap, Second City (Toronto), Knifefight Theatre, and more.
As an instructor, Jamie has taught at renowned institutions such as Rapid Fire Theatre, Second City (Toronto), the London Academy of Musical and Dramatic Arts, Sheridan College, CBPro, and the Citadel Theatre. His work as a performer has taken him to stages across Canada and internationally, including New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and London UK.
Currently, Jamie is the Artistic Director of Knifefight Theatre (@knifefighttheatre) in Toronto, where he produces monthly improv shows, and the Director of Marketing for The Assembly Theatre (@assemblytheatre), a 60-seat independent venue. He also hosts Pre-Recorded Live (@PreRecorded.Live), a comedic longform podcast exploring the world of live performance and the artists who are called to it.
