Karen served as Rapid Fire Theatre’s General Manager from 1999-2020.
RFT did one show a week, no festivals and about eight corporate gigs a year when she came in. Now the company operates over $1 million annually, three festivals, international travel, 42,000 fans. The company has grown up – the family has sprung tendrils across the globe.
What’s a favourite memory of RFT?
Improvaganza kitchen parties – if you take a beer out of the fridge, put a beer back in the fridge. Replacing the seats in the Varscona, scrabbling around on the floor with wrenches. Dance parties on the stage. Repping RFT at international events and seeing old and new friends each time: Wursburg, Milan, Dubai, Vancouver, even Calgary!
