Linette performed with Rapid Fire Theatre from 2002-2006. As a high school educator, she has trained hundreds of performers who have participated in RFT’s teen programming, many of whom have become ensemble members with the company.
Linette J. Smith is a theatre and improv teacher at Strathcona High school and artistic director for the Scona Alumni Theatre Co. Smith is a freelance director/choreographer in Edmonton where she can be found as a part of The Vanguard Theatre Collective and the choreographer for the Cappies Chorus for Cappies of Greater Edmonton. She is president of the Zone 8 One Act Festival for Edmonton and St. Albert High School theatres. Smith coaches four high school improv teams and she tries to incorporate improv into each day. (life is short do improv) Select credits include: direction and choreography for the world premiere of The Killing Jar, the Edmonton premier of Lizzie the musical (Uniform Theatre) and directing and choreography credits for Xanadu, Heathers, Dogfight, Hedwig and the Angry Inch American Idiot, RENT (Edmonton Fringe) directing the Canadian premier of Calvin Berger (three-form theatre). What’s a favourite memory of RFT?
My favourite memories include playing with past students like Matt Schuurman, Amy Shostak, Ritchie Panas and playing on the Varscona stage. Being a part of the “playing card” set my mom kept my playing card on her fridge for years.
