Michael McCarthy is a multidisciplinary guy from Edmonton, Alberta. His improv journey began in a math class in 2017, when his drama teacher, desperate for students to join the improv team, asked him, “Are you funny, or do you just look funny?” While experts are still trying to figure that out, Michael has improv’d on and off since.
After a long break from improv, he’s returned with a vengeance. He’s come up through Rapid Fire’s workshops & jams programs and Mixtape’s improv shows. He also regularly performs as a part of the improv troupe Bonnie Doon Shopping Maul. To anyone on the fence about trying an improv class, he highly recommends to take the plunge! It’s the most interesting thing you can do! The welcoming community in those workshops is a treat to be a part of.
As a rookie, Michael is stoked at the opportunity to learn and grow at Rapid Fire.
Fun Fact: He is (allegedly) the first person to graduate from the University of Alberta with an Economics degree and a minor in film studies.
