A format created by Inbal Lori (ISR-Berlin) and Keng-Sam Chane Chick Te (Reunion Island) The stage is an imaginary border between sleep and wakefulness, where pictures appear and fade, stories are born and develop, and the audience gets a peek at a visual fantasy led by charismatic storytelling.
Enjoy an adventurous, improvised Shakespearean tale told by three impish seekers. With daring battles of wit, tear jerking soliloquy’s and very silly serious scenes, Chris, Ali & John will make you laugh, gasp and cry with their innovative mix of form and fun in The Play’s The Thing – the ultimate homage to the Bard.
Chris Mead, Ali James & John Oakes have been playing and teaching improv for over 30 years collectively! They met years ago but have recently returned from representing England at the IMPRO European Masters. Having all experienced the London 50 Hour Improvathon (as players and director), international improv festivals and many hours of teaching solo and in collaboration, these three improvisers are experienced to say the least! They’ve performed comedy capers, created new forms and won awards for improvised musicals and are now banding together to form The Play’s The Thing, a super fun improvised Shakespeare play.
