Location: Edmonton, AB
RFT seeks a charismatic, organized Front of House (FOH) Manager to lead, hire and train our FOH team and operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences. This role involves managing FOH staff (volunteers and hourly bar staff), inventory, vendor relations, and developing FOH processes and revenue targets. The FOH Manager reports to the Executive Director and contributes to RFT’s mission. Physical demands include climbing stairs, standing, and moderate lifting.
What You’ll Do:

I. Team Leadership & Patron Experience
- Supervision and Leadership: Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise FOH staff, supervisors and volunteers. Ensure they are well-informed and consistently deliver excellent customer service.
- Patron Experience Oversight: Manage all aspects of the patron journey, from ticketing and seating to intermission and post-show departures. Efficiently address any patron concerns or emergencies.
- Human Resources: Lead and support FOH staff and volunteers, overseeing scheduling and staffing levels. Foster an engaging environment for staff and volunteers. Maintain weekly communication with FOH personnel. Conduct performance evaluations and address personnel issues as needed.
II. Venue Operations & Management
- Venue Presentation: Ensure the lobby, theatre, and washrooms are clean, stocked, presentable, and safe before, during, and after performances.
- Box Office Management: Oversee all ticketing
- Concessions & Merchandise: Manage all aspects of concession and merchandise sales, including product selection, ordering, deliveries, inventory, cash handling, and reconciliation, ensuring patrons are served in a friendly and efficient manner
- Janitorial Coordination: Coordinate the cleaning and stocking of all patron-facing areas. This includes waste removal and recycling, managing cleaning services, and coordinating snow removal as required. Report and address any vandalism to the facility.
III. Safety, Security & Compliance
- Emergency Procedures: Be thoroughly familiar with and execute all emergency procedures to ensure the safety of patrons and staff. Update these procedures as necessary. Conduct drills, and provide training sessions for FOH personnel to ensure preparedness.
- Safety & Security Implementation: In collaboration with the Leadership team, implement, update, and enforce safety protocols for staff, artists, and patrons.
- Safety Training Coordination: Coordinate necessary safety training (e.g., First Aid, Naloxone).
- Permitting & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local codes and regulations (e.g., Fire Marshall, AHS, AGLC, City of Edmonton). Stay informed about changes in regulations that may impact operations.
IV. Financial Management & Reporting
- Budgeting & Expense Management: In collaboration with the Executive Director, maintain budgets for FOH expenses.
- Vendor Relations & Negotiations: Maintain positive relationships with vendors and make product selections that appeal to audiences. Negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Financial Tracking & Reporting: Track expenses and complete financial reporting.
- Revenue Optimization: Set product pricing to optimize revenue for Rapid Fire Theatre.
- Reporting: Complete end-of-night reports and any incident reports.
V. Accessibility & Sustainability
- Accessibility & Inclusivity: Implement measures to ensure the venue is accessible to people with disabilities. Ensure accessibility features are functional and that the needs of patrons with disabilities are met with dignity.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Implement environmentally friendly practices and explore opportunities for waste reduction.
VI. Collaboration
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Artistic Staff, Technical Director, and other RFT staff to ensure seamless show operations.

- Perform other duties as required.
What We’re Looking For:
- Exceptional customer service skills;
- Minimum of 3+ years experience in a similar role;
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, and industry best practices;
- Highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Access to vehicle and valid driver’s license;
- Up to date Proserve and First Aid certifications
- Ability to climb stairs and lift moderate loads
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Assets:
- Education that relates to hospitality or arts administration;
- Experience in a supervisor/management role in hospitality;
- Knowledge of Rapid Fire Theatre’s programming;
- Experience with software including Google Suite, Slack, Showpass, Square and 7Shifts
