Our experienced instructors will guide you through the basics of improvisation, helping you to develop your comedic instincts and explore your creativity in a fun and supportive environment. Whether you’re an aspiring performer or simply looking for a fun new hobby, this workshop is perfect for those curious about the world of improv!
Sun, Sept 6th 2pm w/ Joey Lucius
Joey Lucius is Rapid Fire Theatre’s Academy Director and resident cutie-pie. As a teacher and educator, Joey has worked for Edmonton Public Schools, the University of Alberta, and Boyle Street Education Centre. He’s a alumni contributor to the online Beaverton, a Canadian Comedy Award winner, and an RFT stalwart for over 19 years. Joey is a birder.
Tue, Sept 8th 7pm w/ Joleen Ballendine
Director of Outreach & Welcome, Joleen Ballendine has been teaching improv since 2007. She has taught internationally, is an award winning comedian and performs and writes for television. She is best known for her loud voice, colorful lipstick and her ugly cry on stage!
Wed, Sept 9th 7pm w/ Marg Lawler
Marguerite Lawler is an Edmonton based comedian, actor and instructor. Marg has been doing improv for fourteen years, professionally with RFT since 2015. They can be seen in troupes like OffBook: The Improvised Musical, The Kelly and Marg Experience, Big Nasty Hook and Magic Michael XXS, as well as co-direct Grey-ish Anatomy. They’ve been teaching and coaching improv for just under a decade to all ages. They’ve performed at the Vancouver Improv Festival, Canmore Improv Festival, Improvaganza, and have performed in Calgary, and NYC. They also write and perform solo sketch comedy, hold a BFA in Acting, and love summer camp.
